Important Health Benefits Swedish Bitters

By Toni Vang

Swedish bitters, just like the name suggests are bitter herbs that are believed to be discovered during the 16th century. One Dr. Paracelsus, a Swiss physician, and botanist, was the first to put this powerful combination together, but they were brought forth in the subsequent years. Other great people who advocated for the benefits of these supplements include Dr. Claus Samset and Maria Treben, who wrote about the benefits Swedish bitters.

Even though they are extremely bitter, the herbs have great health benefits including soothing chicken pox. They are made using myrrh, senna leaves, angelica, flowering ash as well other useful herbs that are beneficial to human health. Even so, you have to consult your doctor before using it in case you are pregnant or are experiencing diarrhea.

Alleviation of digestive disorders can be achieved using bitters. On most occasions after a scrumptious meal, we may experience bloating or be excessively full making us so uncomfortable. Well, these herbs can come in handy in such situations. They help in stimulating the stomach walls to produce acid and digestive enzymes that break down food. In addition, they fuel peristalsis that is contractions that push food throughout the digestive system.

You can apply these herbs on insect bites on your skin to soothe the pain. Renowned herbalists recommend that you apply it immediately after you have been beaten to increase its efficiency. Also compress it gently so as to relieve the irritation resulting from the bite.

Throat infections can also be relieved by gargling a solution of this mixture of herbs. They also minimize hoarseness that are caused by throat infections. You can otherwise resort to adding the solution to a mug of herbal tea and drink it before and also after every meal.

The bitters are also great for soothing toothaches and tongue blisters. Maris Treben recommends using a tablespoon of the mouthwash of this herb diluted in water to alleviate tongue blisters. For toothaches, she suggests that you use the same mouthwash three times a day to relieve pain.

The herbs also help to regulate insulin production in the pancreas. It is important as it helps to prevent blood sugar spikes that can result in changing moods and energy levels. Moreover, it stabilizes the sugar level hence slow down Candida overgrowth. The herbs also help in promoting the functionality of the liver. They stimulate the production of bile that help in metabolizing and promoting smooth elimination of fats. In addition, they help prepare the liver to process nutrients in an efficient way.

Finally, the immune system is boosted with the use of bitters. It reduces stress levels that make the adrenals work more effectively. Unhealthy adrenals weaken your adrenals hence making you vulnerable to certain illnesses. Additionally, these herbs repair the lining of the gut that prevents contraction of Leaky Gut Syndrome. The disease makes food from the intestines to leak back to the bloodstream resulting in the immune response.
