Beautifully Sleek Hair With The Brazilian Keratin Treatment

By Joanna Walsh

Diversity in hairstyles is something that all modern fashionable ladies and men desire. Some people achieve the look they desire by making changes to their hair. One of the ways to change appearance of hair is by straightening curly locks. The Brazilian Keratin treatment facilitates this variety by allowing hair to transition from curly to straight.

As the name indicates, this hair straightening technique has its origins in Brazil. The founder of the system, was inspired by hair changing methods that she saw in Brazil. This Brazilian method basically included the use of a blow dryer to gradually straighten curls and waves in women's hair.

The system that evolved from the inspirational root comprises four main steps which may be described as clarifying, solution application and heat application. Each of these four steps plays a significant role in ensuring that the hair is sleek and straight at the end of the process. The kit that is sold by the manufacturers includes the items needed as well as the instructions to allow users to apply the techniques accurately.

The first step involves a cleansing of the hair. To do this you need a clarifying shampoo. The shampoo should be left on the hair for at least two minutes before being rinsed off. A conditioner should not be applied to the hair. To remove the excess moisture from the hair, a dry towel should be used.

The second step involves the application of the keratin solution. Gloves must be worn during this step of the treatment. Before application, the container with the solution should be shaken vigorously. Small portions of the solution should be placed in a bowl and a tint brush should be sued to apply the solution to the hair starting at a half of an inch away from the root.

After the treatment has been allowed enough time to penetrate the hair, and this usually takes between ten to fifteen minutes, it is time for the third step. This step includes the application of heat using a blow dryer. A round brush or a paddle brush is used to assist the process.

The final step is known as the sealing step as it is during this step that the treatment is sealed onto the hair strands. It is very important during this stage to use the heat level that suits your hair type. The flat iron is used to straighten the strands of hair starting at the nape and repeating the process several times for each section. Once this is finished, treated hair must be kept away from water for at about two days.

Those who wish to use this regimen should note that it is a temporary one. This means that the treated hair will eventually revert to its former state unless the treatment is repeated periodically. Also exposure to the chlorine in pool water and the salt in sea water may undo the process. This is why it is important to avoid sitting and letting sea or pool water dry on your treated hair.
